Polish for Work: A Start in Your Own Language

October 11, 20262 min read

Polish for your job in Poland, at the till, in the warehouse or in the office, with your own language as the help language. How to start, and what the app cannot do.

In short: learn the Polish you need for your job, with translations into your own language. Ask the AI for work phrases, say them out loud, and read real Polish every day.

Your first 10 minutes

  1. On the first screen, choose Polish as the language you learn. Choose your own language as the native language: translations are available in dozens of languages, for example Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish or Spanish. You can change this later in Settings → Languages → Native Language.
  2. Let the app download the dictionary. The vocabulary estimate then opens (Estimation of Vocabulary). If you have not studied Polish, leave Word Count at 0 and tap OK. If you know some words, scroll to the point where the common words stop looking familiar, tap OK, and stop a little early rather than late.
  3. Open Ask AI on Home to talk to the AI Mentor. Write, in your own language if you like: "I work at a shop till in Poland and my language is [your language]. Give me 15 Polish phrases I need every day, with translations into [your language]."
  4. Change the job to fit you: warehouse, cleaning, office. Later, ask for accounting or invoice words.
  5. Ask: "Make flashcards from these phrases." Approve the cards you want. They will come back in your daily reviews.
  6. Tap the Practice card on Home (it appears once you have words to learn). Pick a mode, choose Custom theme, and type your job, for example "warehouse". Tap the microphone and say a phrase. You get a pronunciation score from 0 to 100 and tips.

A daily routine

  • 2–5 minutes: do your daily reviews: tap the Exercise card on Home and go through your cards and words. The app brings each one back when you're likely to start forgetting it.
  • 7 minutes: read something real in Polish. A letter from the office, a work notice, or the news. Unknown words have a small translation above them. To read a letter, save it as a PDF or text file and open it with Open a file.
  • 5 minutes: say three work phrases out loud and check your score.

What it won't do

  • The AI feedback may sometimes come in English, not in your language. You can ask again: "Please answer in [your language]."
  • It won't teach grammar step by step. Polish cases are explained only when you ask. Try: "Why is it w sklepie and not w sklep?"
  • It is not a course with a teacher. Nobody checks your homework or tells you what to learn next. You choose.
  • A photo of a letter cannot be read word by word. The app needs real text.
  • pimReader is a personal app; it has no class or teacher features.

Reading, translations and daily reviews (the Exercise card on Home) are free; Ask AI, Practice and speaking scores use AI, which is part of pimReader Plus. When you open an AI feature, pimReader offers Try free for a month: no card, no account, nothing renews. Tap Not now to carry on without AI.
