School Exams: Turn Class Notes Into Flashcards

October 11, 20262 min read

Studying for WAEC, JAMB, GCSE, A-levels or the SAT? Put your notes on your phone, turn key lines into question cards, and review them for ten minutes a day.

In short: put your class notes and past questions in pimReader. Turn the important lines into question cards, and review them for ten minutes a day.

Your first 10 minutes

  1. First get your notes onto your phone: download the PDF or copy it from a computer. Then open pimReader. If your notes are in your own language, tap Just read, no language to learn on the first screen. PDF, EPUB, TXT, HTML and Markdown files all work.
  2. Tap Open a file on Home and pick the file.
  3. Find an important passage. Press on a word and drag to select the passage.
  4. Tap Add Note.
  5. In the note, tick Memorize. A question icon appears next to it.
  6. Tap the question icon. Type a question, for example "What are the three causes of…?" Tap OK. The passage is now the answer, and your question is the front of the card.
  7. For a formula or a definition, make a quick card. Open Notes on Home and tap +. Type the formula, tick Memorize, and add a question with the question icon.

Make five cards today. That is enough for a start.

A daily routine

  • 10 minutes, on the bus or before school: do your daily reviews. Tap the Exercise card on Home. Read each question and answer it in your head. Tap ? to see the answer. Then tap Again, Hard, Good or Easy. The app brings a card back when you're likely to start forgetting it.
  • 10 minutes at home: read one new chapter of your notes. Make three or four new cards.
  • Once a week (AI): open a chapter, open the right side panel, and choose Ask AI. Ask: "Quiz me with five questions on this chapter." Answer, then check the replies against your notes.

What it won't do

  • pimReader is a personal app; it has no class or teacher features.
  • It has no past papers inside. You bring your own notes and question papers.
  • A photo of your notes, or a scanned PDF, opens as pictures. The app cannot read the words, so you cannot select or tap them. Type the key lines into a note instead.
  • It does not know your syllabus. You decide what goes on the cards.
  • AI questions can be wrong. Always check them against your notes and textbook.

Reading, notes, cards and daily reviews (the Exercise card on Home) are free; the AI quiz is part of pimReader Plus. When you open an AI feature, pimReader offers Try free for a month: no card, no account, nothing renews. Tap Not now to carry on without AI.
